My patience has run out with the Dutch throttle so if you are looking for one, don't get one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Prof-Quick-Action-Throttle-Kit-Yamaha-Models_W0QQitemZ230215690909QQihZ013QQcategoryZ10490QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
they are CRAP.At least the original one got a good service and works really smoothly now.
At Brands in November the bike was noise tested at 108db which is a bit much to be honest so I drilled out the rivets on the silencer and found hardly any packing left in there.I had some Micron packing in the garage so rammed loads down the end really tightly. What a differance!now I can rev it without fear of my ears bleeding and my teeth shattering.

Not so quick throttle

The postie delivered the throttle today so I got straight on with fitting it.
With the R6 being so compact it was a real pig to fit,so after an hour of taking all the skin off my fingers I found the pull ratio was no quicker than the standard one, gutted!!
Hopefully they will send a replacement as I did ask for the quickest one they had.

To grease the swing arm bearings I had to come up with a way to support the bike while the pivot bolt was removed.
I ended up using two trolley jacks protected with rag either side pumped up under the frame and sump which was really solid.
The bolts were a bit of a pig to remove as there was hardly any grease on them at all.Once out I greased every thing and cleaned all the hard to reach gunk off.Just waiting for my quick action throttle to turn up from Holland.
Only 22 days untill the first track day!!

Sorting the stoppers

Now the forks are back from Whitecross it gave me chance to strip and service the front and rear brake calipers. At the front I've put in some Performance Friction pads and changed the fluid to Castrol SRF.The rear pads were fine so they stayed standard but I put SRF in just in case.

2008 is go,go,go

Booked up the first track time for the year today, its an open pitlane job at Brands again put on by Focused Events on 10th Feb.This time I'll be joined by Jon Leach on his Ducati and hopefully by the time our race meeting comes around in April I'll know my way around the place.
The postman delivered all my sprockets today, sent by those lovely people at Motorbike-Crazy.com (see sponsor list). They gave me a nice discount in return for some add space,so if you need any bits for you or your bike give them a try as its nice to see a business putting a bit back into grass roots racing.
The sprockets I went for were Renthal 520 in sizes 14,15, 47,48 and 49 which should cover all the tracks we visit.
My forks have been completed and are on the way back, which is good because I need to get the bike back together so I can give it a good wash, they must have put salt down at Brands because the nuts and bolts are starting to go a bit furry.
